700 Royal Ave, New Westminster, BC V3M 5Z5.
Douglas College.
Hello everyone,
Thank you for your patience over the last few months. We hope that you and your families are safe and healthy.
As British Columbia public health authorities develop guidelines to lift some restrictions on gathering in a responsible way, Bulgarian Heritage Language School has been working with Douglas College to follow and understand the recommendations of the Provincial Health Officer of the Province of British Columbia, and how they best apply within the context of our Bulgarian Heritage Language School.
Our Return Plan Template has been developed to ensure:
- The health and safety of all individuals is a priority
- Activities are in alignment with provincial health recommendations
- Modifications to activities are in place in order to reduce the risks to each camp and its participants.
While there will be a hybrid model of online classes and small group in-person sessions, if you choose to attend on of the in-person sessions, the following rules MUST be followed:
- If your child does not feel well or is displaying symptoms of COVID-19, your child MUST stay home.
- If your child lives in a household with someone who has СOVID-19 or is showing symptoms of COVID-10, please keep them at home.
- If a child begins to feel unwell at school, a phone call will be made, and you will be required to pick up your child immediately.
- All participants must clean hands upon arrival at Douglas College, and will be required to use soap or sanitizer throughout the day.
- All participants must bring their own food and water bottles.
- All students must maintain a 2-meter distance from others in the common areas.
- Physical contact with others, including shaking hands, high-fives, hugs, etc.. is strictly prohibited.
- Drop off is to occur no more than 15 minutes before the start of the session, and pickup must occur immediately following the morning session unless registered for afternoon classes.
- Grade 6s and above will be required to wear a mask in common areas
Given the current circumstances we have made several other changes to our Saturday sessions, to align with the BC Ministry of Health guidelines for Child Care settings.
- Our sessions will follow a hybrid model with online classes and small group in-person classes. You may choose which one to sign for.
- A maximum of twelve (12) children will take part in the 30-person classrooms and 36 person computer labs, to ensure proper social distancing.
- Each child will remain at their respective desk and/or computer workstation to ensure that there is no sharing of equipment or supplies.
- There will be no interaction between different classes.
- Check-in & pick-up will take place in their respective classrooms/labs, as opposed to the main concourse.
- There is no food sharing and pizza lunches this year, and children in full day classes will be required to bring their own lunches and water bottles.
- Each class will remain in their classroom over lunch, though may go outside as a group.
- Pre-class wipe downs will take place in order to sanitize each classroom.
- There will be mandatory hand wash/hand-sanitizing breaks, each hour.
Our classes may look a little different this year, however students will still experience the same fun, excitement and adventure as past years.
